STEVE MURIGI
CEO
Having worked in communications, advocacy, partnerships and programmes across the international development sector, Steve brings nearly two decades of experience and leadership to WeSeeHope. For much of his career, Steve worked at Africa’s leading health INGO, AMREF Health Africa, in Kenya, Uganda and the UK, and was more recently CEO at Primary Care International (PCI). He is passionate about nurturing localised, people-centred and collaborative ways of working, and looks forward to building on all that was achieved so far to further grow WeSeeHope’s impact and influence in the sector. Steve joined the team in 2024.
OSWALD MALUNDA
AFRICA DIRECTOR
Oswald has a masters in Development Administration, conducting his research on the impact of HIV and AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa, and is a trained social worker, bringing extensive expertise and technical guidance to our programmes and partnerships. He joined the WeSeeHope team in 2008 after managing and developing women and children focused projects with two of our in-country partners in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Blantyre, Malawi. Oswald enjoys seeing positive change in the lives of the children we support, their households and communities.
CERIE KENNEDY
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Cerie has a background as a Qualified Chartered Accountant working in both the corporate sector and the NHS. During her training, she specialised in dealing with small business and charity clients and wanted to work with an organisation that focused on vulnerable children and entrepreneurship. After joining the team in 2014, she has enjoyed getting involved in WeSeeHope events and visiting our partners in Zimbabwe in 2016.
LIZZIE WINTER
HEAD OF PROGRAMMES & STRATEGY
Spending time volunteering in Kenya and Tanzania helped cement Lizzie’s desire to work for a charity focused in those countries. She joined the WeSeeHope team in 2012, helping to grow our programmes and partnerships, and was key in introducing our Village Investors Programme (VIP) in 2014. In her role, Lizzie stays busy governing our programme strategy whilst building relationships with our partners, problem solving and providing them with technical support.
SHEILA IMMACULATE KENGINGO
UGANDA COUNTRY MANAGER
Sheila has a masters degree in Human Rights, specialising in child rights, a degree in Social Work and Administration, and a Law diploma. She initially worked for our partner, RIDE, in Uganda for eight years as a manager for projects that promoted and protected child rights and social accountability. Sheila joined the WeSeeHope team in 2016, and her community empowerment and project planning skills help to guide and develop our partnerships in Uganda and our wider programmes work.
SHADRACK MUTHAMA
KENYA COUNTRY MANAGER
Shadrack brings ten years’ experience implementing child rights projects in Nairobi, Kenya, and is a trained social worker. He was working with our partner, ANPPCAN, in Kenya developing child rights initiatives and supervising the introduction of village savings and loans groups when he found out about WeSeeHope, and joined the team in 2017. His favourite part of the role is building our partners’ capacity in Kenya and seeing the impact we have together on vulnerable children.
KEIDRA BIRNIE
PROGRAMME MANAGER
Having spent 10 years working within the national and international charity sectors, Keidra brings a variety of experiences to her role as Programmes Manager with WeSeeHope. Her previous roles have included project coordination, advocacy, partnership management and fundraising. Keidra has a Masters degree in Human Rights Law and a true passion for sustainable development which she is excited to bring to her role working alongside our partners, witnessing the impact of our work. Keidra joined the team in 2023.
DANI MCLEAN
PROGRAMME ASSISTANT
With a strong passion to help bring positive change to the world, Dani applied to University to study Criminology. However, during her foundation year she studied an International Development module and found her passion. After changing her degree to major in International Development she graduated in 2022. In early 2023, Dani volunteered at a school in Cambodia and decided she wanted to work for a charity that supported vulnerable children. Due to the sustainable and community focused aspect of our work, Dani was eager to join the team and started in 2023. With a keen eye for detail, she enjoys working with data in programmes as she focuses on data collection, monitoring and evaluation. Here she gets to see first hand the positive impact of our work and support our partners progress.

HEAD OF FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS
JAMIE BRIARS
SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS EXECUTIVE
Whilst he was studying for a masters in International Development, Jamie was involved in a research project in Botswana that highlighted to him the importance of community empowerment and inclusive development. After completing his studies, he built his experience in various roles in the international development sector before joining the WeSeeHope team in 2022. He is a firm believer in the power of storytelling and enjoys exploring new ways to communicate our message in engaging and accessible ways.
CRAIG CURRIE
SUPPORTER CARE & ADMIN ASSISTANT
After completing his degree in English Literature, Craig worked in a range of administrative and sales-based roles. During this time, he also studied various modules relating to economic sustainability, poverty, and conflict response. This, in conjunction with voluntary work and his own passions, led to Craig’s decision to transition into a professional career in the charity sector, joining WeSeeHope in 2023. He is committed to providing excellence in supporter care and exploring new and creative ways to fundraise in sustainable and ethical ways.
OUR TRUSTEES
We are governed by a board of Trustees with a wealth of varied experience in international development, fundraising, charity finance, and commerce. The board meets quarterly and is responsible for agreeing our strategy, ensuring financial accountability and best practice in governance, and deciding upon the allocation of funds to our partners.
ALASTAIR MILLS
CHAIR OF TRUSTEES
Alastair is the Executive Chair of Kerv, an organisation offering world-class cloud solutions and digital transformation services, as well as a Partner at a Venture Capital fund and the Non-Executive Chair of a tech company. He co-founded Kerv in 2020 following his successful exit from Six Degrees Group, a leading provider of cyber security services, where he was founder, CEO and later Chair. He successfully led Six Degrees from a start-up to a £100 million business with 500 employees in just five years. Before this, he was CEO at AIM-listed SpiriTel plc. Alastair has been a long-term supporter of WeSeeHope throughout his business life and has been a Trustee since 2018, becoming our Chair in 2020.
WENDY WALL MBE
CO-FOUNDER AND TRUSTEE
Wendy’s passion for our cause was instrumental in launching WeSeeHope and creating the first ‘1010 Challenge’ which raised £2 million and led to our formation. She works as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS, and also oversees the CSR agenda of Signify Ltd where she works alongside Phil. She is a member of our Projects Sub-Committee, and brings years of experience within this role to offer guidance to the team on the strategic planning and monitoring of our programmes and partners.
In 2022, Wendy was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List for her services to our work with vulnerable children.
PHIL WALL MBE
CO-FOUNDER AND TRUSTEE
With over 20 years’ experience as a performance coach and change consultant, Phil provides the team with invaluable strategic and creative input. He was previously a London Police Officer and worked with The Salvation Army. The bulk of his working life now is spent coaching senior leaders in business. Using his strong networking skills, he is always looking for opportunities to engage with potential supporters and explore innovative new ways to raise money for WeSeeHope. Phil also sits on the Board of WeSeeHope USA.
In 2022, Phil was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List for his services to our work with vulnerable children.
ADRIAN GOSLING
TRUSTEE
Adrian has 36 years experience working with charities, helping them throughout their journey from launching and growing all the way to reaching sustainable levels. Working for several organisations as Operations Director, some of his greatest achievements include developing community health projects in Zambia, as well as health and education programmes in schools throughout the UK. Currently, Adrian works in a secondary school teaching subjects including philosophy and ethics. Adrian was involved in Phil and Wendy Wall’s 1010 fundraising challenge that led to the formation of WeSeeHope, and has been a Trustee since 2002.
CLAIRE CHAPMAN

PETER MCQUADE MBE
TRUSTEE
Peter has over 40 years experience in the high-tech industry, working initially as a legal counsel before moving into broader commercial roles and focusing on CSR. He held senior positions at various companies including IBM, ComputerLand, Oracle and Qlik before setting up his own consultancy business. In 2016, Peter was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List for his services to the Paris To Hayling Charity Cycle Ride which he founded in 1986. Peter has been a Trustee since 2018.
RACHEL MADEIROS-MHENDE, CFA
TRUSTEE
Rachel is an sustainable investment professional with experience in both mainstream finance and the ESG factors involved in investing. Her executive experience includes roles at Morgan Stanley, other small investment boutiques, and in venture philanthropy. With her finance and investment background, she has been a member of the Investment and Finance subcommittee since 2013 and she is particularly excited by WeSeeHope’s data and impact analysis progress.
